Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG)

At Elements Primary School we passionately believe it is never too soon for our students to start developing the skills and attributes needed to be self-confident, well-educated and aspirational individuals. We recognise the importance of preparing our children for the next stage in their education – and beyond – for the world of work. We set high expectations of our children’s conduct, behaviour, attendance and attitude to ensure that all students develop the attributes that employers value and seek out.

We expect all our students to develop high aspirations and in time, consider a wide range of further study and careers. We aim to inspire our students through real-life contact with the world of work, to help them understand where different choices can take them in the future.

We wish to ensure that our students are not restricted by circumstances, location, or gender. We work hard across school and in all lessons to challenge all forms of stereotyping to ensure that boys and girls from all backgrounds and diversity groups genuinely believe they can take on any career including those that are often portrayed as primarily for one or the other of the sexes.  This will help every young person to realise their potential and so support social mobility.

At Elements Primary School we achieve this through introducing and discussing different careers and ambitions that subjects we learn can lead to at the start of each session. We have also recently introduced our community hub which will in turn allow us to develop partnerships with both local and national organisations, where they can deliver motivational workshops. In previous years we have had workshops surrounding forensic science where children have taken the role of a forensic scientist to solve crimes, we have also had real-life chefs leading food technology sessions and have similarly planned enterprise weeks for our UKS2 children to engage in workshops and activities that can link to a range of prospective careers.
